About Us

About Us
Art League of Baytown was organized in 1954 and incorporated as a Texas non-profit corporation in 1963.

In 2008, with the generous support of the City of Baytown, the Art League contributed to and acquired its home at 110 W. Texas Avenue and we called it the Art Center of Baytown. We want to give back to our community and help to revitalize the Historic Shopping District of Old Goose Creek. We want to make our Art Center into a destination for visual arts and so we have steadily built our schedule to include classes for all ages, genders and interests - painting, gourds, paper mache', jewelry, weaving, photography and mixed media.

Ongoing Oil Painting classes are offered on Tuesdays from 10:00-1:00. Watercolor classes are offered the last Saturday of the month from 10-12:30. Workshops are offered throughout the year to interested artists. Friday is open paint day for you to come and work on your project at your leisure.

The Art League of Baytown meetings are held on the 3rd Sundays at 2 pm. and open to the public. At each general meeting there is a demonstration with a variety of mediums such as oils, watercolors, jewelry, pastels, and much more.

The Art League of Baytown invites everyone to come and join us! Every individual should have access to art and culture in their daily lives. It is our goal to provide a medium between art enthusiasts and the artists themselves.

From the outset, our project's goal was to enable visitors to not only understand the art we display, but also to generate group discussions about the pieces as a way to bring culture into one's valuable leisure time. We have forged many partnerships over the years and obtained many patrons who support this initiative.

Our diverse, friendly team is interested in learning about what each of our visitors want to discover - whether they are young, old, big or small - let's get to know each other!

Art League of Baytown has had over sixty years to build an organization that has proven itself time and again. Some of us have been a part of this organization since its beginning in 1954 and though they might not be active, they are still a part of us. We're all friends here and we are constantly making new ones.

The funds we raise from our programs, events, workshops and classes help us to make improvements to our art center and also to maintain it. And so we continue with our mission: To promote the fine arts of painting, sculpting, ceramics, photography, etc. and to create fellowship among practicing artists.
