The Art League of Baytown was organized in 1954 and incorporated as a Texas non-profit corporation in 1963.
In August, 2008, the Art League obtained a permanent home in Baytown with the help of the city and many others. It is
the Art Center of Baytown which is a gallery for members to display/sell their art work along with areas dedicated to teaching classes. Fridays are open days for
anyone wanting to bring their art to work on and meet with other artists.
Ongoing Oil Painting classes are offered on Tuesdays from 10:00-1:00. Classes and workshops are offered throughout the year to interested members.
The Art League of Baytown meetings are held on the 3rd Sundays at 2 pm. After each general meeting there is a demonstration with a variety of mediums such as oils, watercolors, jewelry, pastels, and much more.
The Art League of Baytown invites everyone to come and join us! Every individual should have access to art and culture in their daily lives. It is our goal to provide a medium between art enthusiasts and the artists themselves.
The Art League of Baytown is pleased to welcome visitors to our beautiful gallery in Historic Goose Creek, Texas. Let us be your partner when discovering art and culture firsthand.
At the Art Center we have a variety of gifts available for purchase at comparably reasonable prices such as paintings, pottery, jewelry, stained glass, photos, cards and other unique art.
What do art and culture have in common?
First and foremost, they bring out joy and varying emotions from within.
We invite you to come by and see if our gallery is a possible venue for you to sell your work or to experience the joy of art in our classes or workshops. There is something for everyone's schedule and pocketbook. We look forward to meeting you!
The Art League of Baytown has had over sixty years to build an organization that has proven itself time and again. Some of us have been a part of this organization since its beginning in 1954 and though they might not be active, they are still a part of us. We're all friends here and we are constantly making new ones.
In 2008, with the generous support of the City of Baytown, the Art League contributed to and acquired its home at 110 W. Texas Avenue and we call it the Art Center of Baytown. We want to give back to our community and help to revitalize the Historic Shopping District of Old Goose Creek. We want to make our Art Center into a destination for visual arts and so we have steadily built our schedule to include classes for all ages, genders and interests - painting, gourds, paper mache', jewelry, weaving, photography and mixed media.
The funds we raise from our programs, events, workshops and classes help us to make improvements to our art center and also to maintain it. We are finished with our downstairs, the upstairs classroom is now complete, and replacement of the back doors is in progress, but we must first raise the money to meet that challenge. And so we continue with our mission: To promote the fine arts of painting, sculpting, ceramics, etc. and to create fellowship among practicing artists.
if you are interested in renting space at the Art Center for a special activity, event, or workshop, contact us or come by and we will help you get organized. We have a beautiful classroom upstairs and our classroom on the first floor is available to suit your needs.
