STUDENTS AT THE ART CENTER

Many people in Baytown think that the Art League of Baytown is just a place where adults who like art go to paint. The Art Center encourages young people to join at a reduced yearly rate ($10.00) which allows them to display their art work in our beautiful gallery and participate in our Spring Show. We offer a yearly scholarship to  participating high school students. Students are also encouraged to volunteer at our Tuesday Night Rising Stars class, an art class for special needs adults. They may also participate at our various in-house and outreach events that take place at Town Square on Texas Avenue such as Bay Day, Farmers Market, and Christmas on Texas Avenue. This is an excellent way for students to learn more about our community and accumulate service projects for college resumes. This summer, due to popular demand, we are also expanding our annual Kids Art Camp to two sessions for students ages 7-14.

Here are a few pictures of our young people participating in classes, workshops, and events at the Art Center.

Student Scholarships 2017

Scholarships for a graduating senior from each of our GCCISD High Schools were presented at our last general meeting.

Art teachers from Sterling, Lee, and GCM submitted pictures from the outstanding student work of their choice. These pictures will be on display in the Art Center Gallery through July.

The Art Center at Nature/Nurture Festival 2017

As part of the Art Center's efforts to publicize and promote art in our community, several members manned a booth at the Nature/Nurture Festival at the nature center on Saturday, April 8, 2017. The coloring tables were crowded all day with children and the craft table attracted lots of children who made butterflies and dragonflies out of paper, crayons, sissors, and twigs. A fun day was had by all..
