ELIGIBILITY – ALB members only (Non-members are welcome to join at registration - $30 annual membership fee). College and High School (16 years or older) students may join for $20 with their student ID; this includes one entry.
ENTRY GUIDELINES - ALB members and students may enter up to 4 works. The first entry is free with membership fee for students; it is $25 for regular ALB members. All entrants pay $5 per entry for the 2nd - 4th works entered. Entry Fees are non-refundable.
REGISTRATION – Work must be delivered in person to the Art Center of Baytown, 110 West Texas Avenue. Artwork may be submitted 10 AM to 4 PM on Thursday and Friday, April 26 & 27 and 10AM to 1PM on Saturday, April 28. Absolutely no entries will be accepted after 1PM on Saturday.
The Art League may reject any work of art that does not meet its rules. All works must have been completed in the last 2 years. No work previously shown in an ALB show will be accepted. No nudes will be permitted or any work depicting the occult or other controversial subjects. Work must be original in concept and design; no copies will be judged. Photographs or pictures may be used for reference in creating work. Absolutely no prints or giclees of original work will be accepted. No patterns, kits or molds may be used (except casting of your own work using the skills you have learned in a class).
PICK-UP – Pick up of entries will be Thursday and Friday, May 31st and June 1st 10 AM to 4PM and Saturday, June 2nd 10 AM to 1PM.
DIVISIONS – EMERGING ARTISTS (High School and College Students); BEGINNERS (artists working in all media less than 3 years; classroom supervision is allowed); INTERMEDIATE (artists working in any media more than 3 years, but with few sales and/or sales at prices minimally above supply costs); ADVANCED/PROFESSIONAL (teachers, artists who are paid for art as a profession, artists with regular sales and/or sales significantly over supply cost). Artists who have placed 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in an advanced division in any Art League or City sponsored show should participate in the ADVANCED/PROFESSIONAL division.
CATEGORIES – Not Under Glass (NUG) any 2-D work equipped to hang without protection from glass or plexi-glass; Under Glass (UG) – any 2-D work equipped to hang with protection by glass or plexi-glass (other than photography); Photography – black/white, color and digitally enhanced photographs; 3-Dimensionl (3-D) – work that is free-standing and intended to be viewed from all angles. Theme Art – open interpretation in any media under show theme Inner Imaginings.
SPECIFICATIONS – All work must be installation-ready. 2-D work should be equipped with a cable or wire for hanging that does not show above the top of the piece; absolutely no saw tooth hangers! NUG paintings should be dry and edges finished (e.g. framed or with painted edges free of staples). Any work on paper (UG and Photography) should be framed under glass or plexi-glass. (Work that is 28”X32” or larger must be framed with plexi-glass or acrylic to prevent exceedingly high weight.) No works exceeding 4’X4’ will be accepted. 3-D work will be displayed on tables or pedestals unless the artist chooses to supply their own display fixture. Sculpture may not exceed 72” in any direction and must be easily moved by 2 people.
Best of Show $300
Emerging Artists One winner each for High School and College entrants; winners receive summer exhibit space at the Art Center. Emerging Artists are not eligible for Best of Show.
Intermediate and Advanced/Professional Divisions will each receive 1st $100, 2nd $75 and 3rd $50, in each category provided there are a reasonable number of entries in each group. The Spring Show Committee can combine categories or divisions within a category as required to have a reasonable field for jurying. Similarly, 3-D 2nd and 3rd awards may be withheld if there are two few entries.
Theme Inner Imaginings – there will be one $100 winner; no divisions and no 2nd or 3rd place.
ALL WORK MUST REMAIN ON DISPLAY FOR THE ENTIRE LENGTH OF THE SHOW.
REGISTRATION ID TAGS MUST BE COMPLETED AND ATTACHED TO THE BACK OF EACH ENTRY.
The Art League presented its first Annual Spring show LSAG event this year. It was a great success and we look forward to next years event.
