MEDITATION: CONTEMPLATING STILLNESS
The Art League of Baytown will host its 2nd exhibition in conjunction with FotoFest 2018 Biennial. Established in 1954 and incorporated as a 501(c)3 in 1963, we will celebrate our tenth year in our stand-alone gallery and art education facility in conjunction with FotoFest 2018. There will be three other FotoFest Participating Spaces in Baytown: Sterling Municipal Library, Lee College Gallery and Lee College Library. Their exhibitions also will follow the global theme of “meditation.”
FotoFest is an international non-profit photographic arts and education organization based in Houston, Texas. Its first international Biennial of Photography and Photo-related Art in the United States was created in 1986. Their programs work locally and globally to promote the cross-cultural exchange of art and ideas.

For the first time, the Art League of Baytown will be a Participating Space in the FotoFest 2016 Biennial. This international photography festival has contributed to the Houston cultural scene for over three decades. Baytown joins Galveston and Fayetteville as regional venues hosting FotoFest shows. Our exhibition, "Elemental Observations: Earth, Air, Fire, Water," is managed by Caslin Gregory & Associates (Houston) and will be on view from March 12 through April 24, 2016.
Additionally, the Art League is initiating scholarships to be awarded to high school students studying photography or photojournalism. These competitive awards will be presented during the FotoFest reception at The Art Center on March 19, 2016 4:00 - 6:00 pm.
The first week of Art Camp is for 7, 8, and 9 year olds. Second week is for 10, 11, 12 year olds. The class meets Monday - Thursday. Friday is spent matting and framing the artwork and then setting up the exhibit for a Saturday reception after which students may take their artwork home with them.
We always start a waiting list as this class fills up quickly so if you are interested in registering your child for this class, call the Art Center at 281-427-2222. We might have space in another class.
Vie Dunn-Harr is the demonstrator in watercolor collage for April at the Art League of Baytown's monthly meeting. The public is invited. Three days prior April 18, 19, 20, she will conduct a workshop at the Art Center. Vie's technique is unique and her process evolved gradually.
